Future Events Notes

  • Lunchtime N & N – May.  The venue is The Four Points, Haw Lane, Aldworth, Reading, Berks. RG8 9RL. Tel 01635 578367 www.thefourpointsinn.co.uk. Robert has made a reservation and we look forward to seeing you there from 12 noon.
  • Evening N & N - May - This will be at the new venue The Shoulder Of Mutton. We had an enjoyable evening with excellent food at the March Nogin
  • Evening N & N - June at The Royal Oak, Knowl Hill
  • Pre-War Car Spring Gathering - Saturday, 20 May 2017 The BCC have been invited by the Riley Register (Hampshire) to this gathering to be held at North Warnborough’s 17 Century Mill House (RG29 1ET). Subject to suitable ground conditions, it is hoped to gain access to the extensive lawn adjacent to the mill pond to display the cars. However, should the weather conspire against us, we have at our disposal a very nicely decorated event barn providing an indoor alternative. The plan is to have a Hog Roast, at a cost of £12.00 per head. If you are interested  a  non-refundable deposit of £5.00 per person, will be require, please see news letter for details.
  • Holyport Fair – Saturday, 3 June 2017 This traditional village fete on the Green at Holyport is always a very popular event, so do go along - you will not be disappointed. There is always a good turnout of cars, and you may win one of the coveted trophies! You can either picnic for lunch, or visit one of the local hostelries. The fete starts at 2.00 pm, but we aim to get there around 12 noon to park and have lunch. Parking is free. Holyport is just south of the M4, off the A308 between Maidenhead and Windsor, and off the A330 between Maidenhead and Ascot
  • Le French Trip - 5 - 12 June 2017 The French Trip again proves to be very popular and we now have an eclectic mix of 16 pre-war cars including 4 Beans. We will depart from Portsmouth on the overnight St Malo Ferr on Monday 5 June, and then drive about 110 miles south to stay 3 nights at the Hotel De Tumulus near Carnac www.hotel-tumulus.com. As the name suggests they have a tumulus in their grounds and are close to the famous Carnac stone circle. We are 8 miles from the medieval town of Vannes and the Gulf of Morbihan. The plan on one day would be to visit Vannes and take a boat trip to one of the islands in the Gulf. On Friday, 9 June we set off to drive 100 miles to Locquirec in Finistere (West Brittany) to stay 3 nights at the beautiful Grand Hotel Des Bains which is right on the beach www.grand-hotel-des-bains.com . We plan to possibly visit a Chateau, or one of the pretty ‘Petite Cité de Caractère’ in the area.  There are now only 2 rooms left so please contact Jo Ward if you would like one of these rooms and Jo will provide all the booking details.
  • The Bredgar & Wormshill Railway Event - 2 July 2017 We are hoping that members of the BCC will attend the Vintage & Classic Day at Bill Best’s wonderful light railway on the North Downs, just south of Sittingbourne in Kent. Website: www.bwlr.co.uk. Bill is a longstanding member of the BCC, and many of us have happy memories of visits to the BWLR. We are going to try to negotiate a weekend deal at the Great Danes Hotel nearby, but they don't publish details until later in the year, and when we have these we will circulate all members with more information.
  • Traditional Boat Festival - 14-16th July 2017 All vintage car owners are encouraged to enter on line, via website www.tradboatfestival.com.
  • Bourne Show - Saturday, 15 July 2017 Pat and Chris will be organising the Show, as usual, and this commences at 12.30 pm. Owners of vintage and classic vehicles are invited to enter their vehicles to win one of three challenge cups. There will be the usual pre-Show run, and those who would like to participate should meet at The Fox PH, 21 Frensham Road, Lower Bourne, Farnham. GU10 3PH, (on the A287) at 10.30 am for coffee and start. There will be an entry fee of £2.00 to cover administration, and participants will be issued with route map and instructions. The Run culminates on the Bourne Green around 12.30 pm. Access for cars into the Green will be available until 1.30 pm. Follow the signs to the car paddock entrance at the rear of the Bourne Green. Last year spaces were filled very early!! Bring a picnic, or maybe have lunch at one of the Show’s food outlets. Free afternoon tea and cake will be available.
